Can a microbiota transfer cure CRS?
Draft
Complementary/ Alternative Medicine, Transplantation, Other Diagnosis and Therapy, Sinusitis, Other Ear, Nose, Mouth and Throat
The lack of effective recalcitrant chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) therapies has led us to test whether a SinoNasal Microbiota Transfer (SNMT) can trigger CRS recovery. A sinonasal microbiota transfer may eliminate sinus pathogens and restore the sinus microbiota to a healthy state. The goal is to assess whether SNMT will decolonize and reconstitute the microbiota of CRS patients, thereby preventing the recurrence of sinus infections.
If you are eligible after the screening phase, you will undergo the SNMT procedure over 2 consecutive days. After the procedure, there are 4 study visits where your health and condition will be assessed. Study visits include questionnaires, a nasal endoscopy, culture work, blood work, and other measurements.
