Currently Recruiting
Other General Health , Other Immune System and Infection, Other Lungs and Breathing , Other Men’s Health , Other Older Adults
This study will examine what factors cause shortness of breath in individuals recovering from COVID-19, how their responses to exercise may be abnormal, and how shortness of breath and exercise capacity change over time. Data collected from individuals recovering from COVID-19 will be compared to healthy individuals (“controls”) in order to understand how shortness of breath and exercise responses are different in people post-COVID-19.
The study involves a total of 2 visits (1 visit for control participants). All visits will be completed at St. Paul's Hospital, Vancouver, BC. Visits 1 and 2 will involve identical procedures and be completed 6 months apart. Each visit will consist of questionnaires relating to health and quality of life, lung function tests (consisting of a series of maximum inhalations and exhalations), a medical examination by our study physician, and a cycling test on a stationary bicycle.
