First time study of Brown Adipose Tissue Activity in Endometriosis

Study Purpose

We are conducting a two-cycle menstrual and ovulation study in women diagnosed with endometriosis and healthy controls to determine whether brown adipose tissue (BAT) activity differs between the two groups. We have completed recruitment of participants with endometriosis and are currently seeking healthy controls who be similar to the endometriosis group [age=22-41, BMI=19.6-26 (BMI=Weight/ Height2)].

Details

1. A telephone call & a questionnaire to evaluate your eligibility. 2. A Zoom call to get a full understanding of your health & lifestyle. 3. Inviting you to complete the Menstrual Cycle Diary daily & your morning temperature every day to evaluate your menstrual cycle & ovulation. 4. Two in-person visits, randomly one in luteal phase, another in the follicular phase, first visit includes measurement of height, weight, waist, hip circumference, lengths of your fingers. 5. Both in-person visits include wearing a comfortable cooling suit & taking some images of the neck to evaluate BAT activity & a quick fingertip prick blood test by a capillary tube for hormone measurements.
