Research Study
How have you been impacted by your adult diabetes care?
On Hold
Diabetes - Type 1, Other General Health , Health Services and Policy, Social Determinants of Health, Other Men’s Health
The goal of this project is to understand the experiences of young adults with type 1 diabetes who have transitioned out of pediatric care into adult care. We want to understand how this change impacts how young adults feel about their diabetes, and how the changes in their healthcare team impact their diabetes management. The purpose of the project is to provide insight for how this transition can be improved.
Participation in the study will involve a 1 hour interview conducted over SFU Zoom. During the interview, you will be asked questions about your experience transitioning from pediatric to adult diabetes care, your perceptions of how that transition has impacted how you feel about your diabetes, and the types of support you have access to in your adult care clinic. The interview will also ask questions about your identity as someone with diabetes and how it relates to your identity as a young adult. These questions are meant to explore how this transition can be improved for future patients, and understand how to better support current patients.
