Health Areas

Traumatic Brain Injury , Other General Health , Other Men’s Health , Other Mental Health , Other Older Adults

Study Purpose

To explore the experience and current needs of people who are supporting someone with a moderate or severe TBI. Supporting roles can include being a spouse or partner, parent, sibling, or daughter/son of someone who acquired a TBI in adulthood and is currently living at home in British Columbia. We aim to use the results to form a full understanding of caregiver experiences, and to design programs to support their wellbeing and quality of life.

Details

After you express interest, a research coordinator will contact you by phone or email and ask you a few questions to determine whether you are eligible to participate. If you are eligible, they will schedule a meeting to explain more about the study and go through the consent form. After consenting, you will complete a short survey online or via Zoom, depending on your preference. Here, we will ask some questions about you and the person with TBI who you are supporting. You will also complete a one-on-one interview in-person or on Zoom to share your personal experiences and stories of caregiving. If you choose to use Zoom, support for the use of technology can be provided if needed.
